What is Nora?
Nora is a helper you text. She learns what matters to you, takes care of small things like reminders and appointments, and keeps your family in the loop, only as much as you want.
Who is Nora for?
Older adults who’d like a hand with everyday things, and the family around them: grown children, grandkids, neighbors and caregivers.
A family member can set Nora up for a parent, or you can set her up for yourself.
Does Mom need a smartphone or an app?
No. Nora works over ordinary text messages, so there’s nothing to install. If her phone has a camera, she can text Nora photos too.
Family members can text Nora as well, or use a simple web app.
Can Mom talk with Nora out loud, or get reminders by phone call?
Talking is coming soon. It’s a real conversation, out loud, like chatting with a friend on the phone. She can ramble, change the subject, or cut in, and Nora keeps up. The words show on screen too, so nothing is missed.
Reminders and check-ins can reach her four ways. On the web and by text work today. Phone calls (even on a landline: press 1 when it’s done, 2 for later) and the iPhone app are coming soon.
She picks the way she likes for everything, or a different way for each reminder, and can change it whenever she wants.
Is our information private? Where is it processed?
Nora runs on our own private servers and private AI models. We don’t sell your information.
Family members only see what Mom chooses to share with them. The full details are on our privacy page at justasknora.com/privacy.
Can we see what Nora remembers, or delete it?
Yes. Every memory shows where it came from, like a photo or a conversation. You can correct any of it or delete it, and Nora stops using it.
Does Nora give medical advice?
No. She reads pill labels and appointment cards and sets reminders, but she never changes a dose or tells you what to take.
For that, she’ll help you ask your doctor or pharmacist.
What happens in an emergency?
Nora is not an emergency service. If something sounds serious, she tells you to call 911 right away and alerts your family.
In an emergency, always call 911 first.
What does Nora cost?
Nora is free while we’re in early testing.
Do we have to connect email or a calendar?
No, it’s optional. If you connect Gmail and Google Calendar, Nora reads them to notice things like appointments and bills. When you ask, she can write an email (it goes out only when you tap Send) or add something to your calendar.
Her own reminders and plans live in Nora.
How do daily check-ins work?
Each morning Nora says hello. If there’s no reply, she sends one gentle nudge. If there’s still no answer, she lets the people Mom chose know, so someone can call.
Mom can turn check-ins on or off, and choose how long Nora waits.
Can Nora help with scams?
Yes. If a text, call or letter looks suspicious, like someone asking for gift cards in a hurry, Nora says so plainly before you reply or pay, and she can check with family.
How do we stop Nora or delete our data?
Mom can turn off check-ins or sharing any time, and any memory can be deleted in the app. Reply STOP to any text and Nora stops texting you.
To stop altogether, open Settings and choose Delete my information. If Mom does this, Nora closes the whole circle and erases everything she knew. A family member who does it erases their own information.
How do we get started?
Nora is opening to a small group of families first. Tap Request early access and tell us a little about yours. Once you're in, you can set Nora up for yourself or for someone you love. She introduces herself by text, and the rest happens one small yes at a time.
