Privacy, in plain words.
What Nora keeps, where it goes, who can see it, and how to make it go away.
Kept on our own servers
Your conversations and what Nora learns stay on computers we run ourselves.
Never sold, never ads
We don't sell your information or use it for advertising. Ever.
Mom decides
Family members only see the topics the person at the center chooses to share.
Delete anytime
Correct or delete any memory, or erase everything, right in the app.
What Nora keeps
Only what she needs to help:
- What each person asked Nora to call them, and a mobile number if you give one.
- Your messages with Nora, and photos you send her (like a pill bottle or a letter).
- What Nora learns along the way, such as a medicine and its schedule or an upcoming appointment. Each memory shows where it came from, and you can correct or delete it in the Notebook.
- Reminders, calendar entries, rides, and replies to the morning check-in.
- Your location, only when you choose to share it from the app.
Where it's processed
- Our own servers. Nora’s data is stored on servers we run ourselves, and connections to Nora are encrypted.
- Private AI by default. Nora’s thinking runs on AI models on our own computers. If we turn on Anthropic’s Claude for some features, your messages are sent to Anthropic to produce Nora’s reply. Anthropic doesn’t use that data to train its models.
- Talking out loud. When you tap Talk to speak with Nora, your voice, and what Nora needs to know for the conversation (like your name, reminders and appointments), are sent to OpenAI, which turns your speech into words and Nora’s answers into speech. OpenAI doesn’t use this to train its models, and keeps it for up to 30 days for safety checks before deleting it. What you say is saved in your chat with Nora, like typed messages. Typing and texting don’t go to OpenAI.
- Looking things up. When Nora searches the web for you (say, a watercolor class nearby), only the search words are sent to a search service. Names, health details, phone numbers and email addresses are removed first.
- Texts and notifications. When texting is on, messages go through our text-messaging provider. Phone notifications pass through your phone’s notification service (Apple or Google).
Gmail and Google Calendar
Connecting Google is optional. If you do, Nora can read your email and calendar to spot things like appointments, bills and deadlines. When you ask her to write an email, she shows it to you and saves it as a draft in your Gmail. It goes out only when you tap Send on it. She adds, moves or deletes something on your calendar only when you ask her to, and she checks with you before deleting anything. The keys Google gives us are stored encrypted, and you can disconnect anytime in Settings or in your Google account.
Nora’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google data only to help you inside Nora. We never sell it, use it for ads, or use it to train AI models, and people don’t read it unless you ask us for help, it’s needed for security, or the law requires it.
Medicare
Connecting Medicare is optional, and only the person whose Medicare it is can connect it. It goes through Quilt, a service that handles the Medicare sign-in, your agreement, and deletion. You agree on Quilt’s page and sign in on Medicare’s own site, so Nora never sees your Medicare password.
- Nora doesn’t keep a copy. Your Medicare information (like your Parts A to D, Extra Help, Medicare Savings Programs and Medicaid) is read from Quilt each time you look at it, and isn’t saved in Nora’s database, memories, messages or logs. Nora keeps only a random ID for your connection and whether it’s on.
- Only you see it. It’s never shown or told to your family, whatever your sharing settings say.
- Not sent to AI. Nora shows your Medicare card with plain code. Your Medicare information isn’t sent to any AI model.
- Never for insurance sales. It’s never shared with any insurance agency, never used to suggest or rank plans, and never used to have an agent contact you.
- Disconnect or delete anytime in Settings → Medicare. Disconnecting turns off access; “Delete my Medicare info” also erases what Quilt holds. Closing your Nora account does both.
This product uses the Blue Button APIs but is not endorsed or certified by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services or the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Text messages
- Nora only texts people who give her their own mobile number and agree to get texts from her, either in the app or by texting her YES. She never texts a number just because someone else gave it to her.
- Texts are the reminders, check-ins and replies you set up with Nora, so how often they come depends on you. Message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP to any text and Nora stops texting you. Reply HELP for help, or write to us at the address below.
- We never sell or share your phone number, or your agreement to get texts, with anyone for their marketing.
Phone calls
- If you choose calls, Nora calls your number with your reminders and morning check-in, read aloud in a recorded voice. You press a key to answer.
- Nora only calls people who choose calls themselves, or, in an emergency someone reports to her, the family who might help.
- You can switch back to the app or texts anytime in Settings, or by telling Nora.
Who can see what
- The person at the center of the circle can see everything about themselves.
- Family members only see what the center person shares with them, topic by topic: share automatically, ask first, or keep private.
- Something you tell Nora privately stays private to you.
- Medicare information is only ever shown to the person whose Medicare it is.
- We don’t share your information with anyone else, except the providers above that help Nora work, or if the law requires it.
Your choices
- Correct or delete any memory in the Notebook, and Nora stops using it.
- Erase everything with Settings → Delete my information. If the center person does this, the whole circle closes and everything is erased.
- Turn the morning check-in, notifications or texting on or off in Settings. Reply STOP to any text and Nora stops texting you.
Children
Nora is for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
